Treasury securities

interest-bearing debt obligations of the U. S. government that are issued by the Treasury as a means of borrowing money to meet government expenditures not covered by tax revenues. Marketable Treasury securities include bills, notes, and bonds. See Treasury bill, Treasury note, and Treasury bond.
